my approach to photography

My work is grounded in the belief that we all just want to be seen and known for who we really are. Everything I create is inspired by the Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi, which finds beauty in imperfection and impermanence. I have a gift of seeing what is unique about a person or relationship and reflecting it back to you in a way you’ve never seen before. I believe life is too precious and fragile to pretend, or appear, to be anyone we’re not. I take a documentary-style approach to making pictures, which means there is no posing or performing for the camera. Instead, I spend time getting to know your family so that moments can happen naturally, which cut to the heart of who you are when I’m not there.
